Opening Reception: Tuesday, Feb. 9, 5:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
Natalia Jaeger’s M.F.A thesis exhibition, Visibly Quotidian, is an exploration on experiential and ephemeral art. Jaeger transforms the gallery into a functional kitchen where she cooks and prepares food throughout the duration of the exhibition. Following her Latin American sazón, the artist utilizes four ingredients that deconstruct and destabilize the notion of the exotic “Other”. Through the use of cooking as a performative art practice, the artist invites gallery attendees to observe the daily performances beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m. each evening, and to stop by during gallery hours.
