Arizona State University Adaptive Sports and Wheelchair Sports USA

Student Recreation Complex (SRC) Adaptive Recreation

The SRC's Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program features a 9,000 sq. ft. weight room and offers a number of adaptive sports exercise equipment that is mainstreamed into the area. The pool maintains a dry ramp for an easy transfer from a wheelchair into the water. This facility is open to students, staff and faculty. Staff help develop adaptations for activity participation.

The Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program at ASU encourages identification of new programs and activities to enhance a fun and supportive environment through recreation.

SRC Adaptive Sports Programs:

Wheelchair rugby and basketball  Power soccer  Goalball
Tennis  Table Tennis  Boccia  Tandem cycling

At ASU, there are two wheelchair sports USA loves to support; wheelchair rugby and basketball. The rugby games are held on a basketball court and the ball is similar to that which is used in volleyball games. The team scores a goal when the two wheels touch or cross over the goal line of the opposing team while possessing the ball.

One of the other fast-paced wheelchair sports USA enjoys is basketball. Wheelchair basketball at ASU consists of a team of five players on a regulation court with 10' baskets. Visit the Web site noted below for more information on adaptive recreation.
